Now serving: Germany

Grab your lederhosen! We’re heading to Germany. Inspired by Chef Jordana’s travels through cozy beer halls and bustling würstchenstands (street stalls), these recipes celebrate the robust flavours Germany does best. Known for generous portions, comforting sides and a less-is-more approach to seasoning, German cooking lets simple ingredients do the heavy lifting. Perfect for long Canadian winters and comfort-seeking appetites.

First up: classic Chicken Schnitzel, breaded and seasoned just right, then fried until golden and crisp—simple and incredibly craveable. Then there’s delicate Fish over Rahmspinat, pairing flaky fish with very German creamed spinach for a dish that feels both rustic and refined. And for a veggie favourite, Flammkuchen—thin, crisp dough topped with savoury ingredients and baked until blistered and irresistible.

The result? Food that’s hearty without being heavy, classic yet adventurous—made for slowing down and digging in. Guten Appetit!

Canadian winters can be hard to swallow. When January settles in and the cold lingers, comfort becomes a craving. To answer that craving, Chef Jordana travelled to India, bringing home bold, warming flavours for the coldest days of winter.

Across India, food is prepared to restore and nourish, with layered spices, bright acidity, and slow-building heat defining the region’s flavours. Techniques like tadka—blooming whole spices in hot oil to release their aroma—and patiently simmered dals build depth one layer at a time, while clay-oven cooking lends dishes their signature warmth and smokiness. Inspired by these time-honoured traditions, Chef Jordana curated a menu that brings that same sense of balance, care and soul home.

Explore wholesome Tomato-Tamarind Rasam with its tangy, warming broth, a richly spiced Punjabi-Style Fish Curry simmered until deeply fragrant, Spicy Tandoori Shrimp Bake inspired by clay-oven flavours, and hearty Masoor Dal Tadka, finished with sizzling aromatic spices.

Our Goodfood Travels menu has been such a hit, we’re keeping the adventure going with a brand-new destination: Scandinavia—nestled in Northern Europe and home to hygge, comforting flavours, and dishes that feel extra magical during the holidays.

To bring this destination to life, Chef Jordana flew to Sweden to experience its cozy food scene firsthand. Snowy streets, charming eateries and conversations with local cooks revealed a thriving food culture deeply rooted in the region's climate. Her favourite finds? A soul-soothing Chicken Stew simmered low and slow, a velvety Salmon Soup layered with herbs and cream, and tender Cranberry Meatballs that balance richness with bright Nordic tang. She also fell hard for Jansson’s Frestelse—a beloved Swedish potato gratin that’s as hearty as hearty can get.

These comfort-driven dishes have arrived at Goodfood, just in time for the holidays. Bundle up, dig in, and let Chef Jordana’s discoveries add warmth to your festive gatherings

From sizzling ramen shops to vibrant markets filled with the freshest local produce, she immersed herself in the art of Japanese cooking. Along the way, she picked up beloved recipes, cooking techniques, and a deeper appreciation for the harmony and balance at the heart of Japanese cuisine.

Now, she’s bringing those discoveries home. Chef Jordana has re-imagined her favourite Tokyo dishes using fresh, local-to-you ingredients, sourcing from Canadian farms whenever possible, so you can experience authentic Japanese flavours right from your own kitchen.

There’s something magical about the way France brings food to life. From bustling street markets to candlelit bistros, the country celebrates flavour in every detail. When we asked our Head Chef, Jordana Rebner, about dipping into French cooking, her mind went straight to the comforts of French home cooking: a buttery baguette torn by hand, ripe tomatoes still warm from the sun, and delicate herbs like tarragon and thyme plucked fresh from the garden.

No matter where you go in France, mealtime is family time. Generations gather around the table not just to eat, but to connect. A pan of poulet au poivre sizzling on the stove or ratatouille bubbling gently in the oven sets the backdrop for laughter, stories and conversation. Meals are never rushed, they’re savoured, together.

Until the beginning of November, bring the spirit of French cooking to your kitchen with Goodfood Travels. Experience fresh ingredients, thoughtful techniques, and comforting flavours that turn everyday meals into something special.
