  • 250g Canadian-raised lean ground beef

  • 450g Potatoes

  • 2 Garlic cloves

  • 30ml Ketchup

  • 150g Green peas

  • 12g Beef demi-glace

  • 12g Smokin’ Sweetness spices (sugar, paprika, salt, onion, cumin, coriander, mustard, garlic, sunflower oil, black pepper, cayenne pepper, smoked hickory flavour, brown sugar)

Salisbury Steaks - Step #1 Make the mash
Step 1: Make the mash
  • Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Peel and medium-dice the potatoes.
  • Add to the pot of boiling water and boil, 14 to 16 min., until very tender.
  • Reserving ½ cup cooking water (double for 4 portions), drain and return to the pot.
  • Off the heat, add 1 tbsp butter (double for 4 portions).
  • Mash, gradually adding the reserved cooking water until you achieve your desired consistency; season with S&P.

Step 2: Prepare the patties
  • Meanwhile, mince the garlic.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the beef, ½ the garlic, 1 egg (double for 4 portions), ½ the ketchup, ½ the spices and S&P.
  • Form into 2 patties (double for 4 portions).

Step 3: Cook the patties
  • In a large pan, heat a drizzle of oil on medium-high.
  • Add the patties* and cook, 3 to 5 min. per side, until browned and cooked through.
  • Transfer to a plate, leaving any browned bits in the pan. Reserve the pan.

Step 4: Sauté the peas
  • Meanwhile, in a small pan, heat 1 tbsp butter (double for 4 portions) on medium.
  • Add the peas and S&P. Sauté, 3 to 4 min., until heated through.
Salisbury Steaks - Step #5 Make the gravy & serve
Step 5: Make the gravy & serve
  • In the reserved pan, heat a drizzle of oil on medium-high.
  • Add the remaining garlic and spices. Cook, scraping up any browned bits, 2 to 4 min., until fragrant.
  • Add ¼ cup water, 1 tbsp butter (double both for 4 portions), the demi-glace and remaining ketchup.
  • Cook, stirring often, 1 to 2 min., until thickened.
  • Divide the mash and patties between your plates
  • Top the patties with the peas and gravy. Bon appétit!
