There’s nothing quite like a good, juicy burger to mark the end of the day. For this meal, you’ll up the satisfaction even more by drawing a few favourites together onto our always-irresistible pretzel buns. Stack the ground beef patties with slices of tender pan-fried portobello mushroom and a blanket of melted Swiss cheese. Serve these better than ever burgers with a honey-Dijon dressed salad and oven-roasted spuds. Hey, it’s a classic for a reason.

Make the spiced home fries
Preheat the oven to 450°F. Cut the potatoes into bite-size pieces. On a lined sheet pan, toss the potatoes with a drizzle of oil; season with ⅓ of the spice blend and S&P. Arrange in a single, even layer and roast in the oven, stirring halfway through, 20 to 25 minutes, until browned and tender when pierced with a fork.

Prepare the patties
While the potatoes roast, in a large bowl, add the ground beef; season with ½ the remaining spice blend and S&P. Gently mix to combine. Using your hands, form the mixture into 2 equal-size patties (double for 4 portions).

Cook the patties & mushroom
While the potatoes continue to roast, cut the mushroom into thin slices. In a small bowl, add the mushroom slices; drizzle with oil and season with the remaining spice blend. In a large pan, heat a drizzle of oil on medium-high. Add the patties* and mushroom slices. Cook, 3 to 5 minutes per side, until the patties are cooked through and the mushroom slices are tender. In the final 2 minutes of cooking, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and cover. Cook, 1 to 2 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Transfer the patties and mushroom slices to a plate and set aside in a warm spot, leaving any browned bits (or fond) in the pan. Reserve the pan.

Make the salad
While the patties cook, in a large bowl, combine the carrots, baby greens and radishes with as much vinaigrette as you’d like.

Toast the buns & serve
In the reserved pan of fond, heat a drizzle of oil on medium-high. Add the buns to the pan, cut-sides down, and toast, 1 to 2 minutes, until golden brown. Divide the spiced home fries and bun bottoms between your plates. Top each bun bottom with an equal portion of the sliced mushroom, a finished burger patty, a spoonful of the salad and a bun top. Serve any remaining salad on the side. Bon appétit!
